The paper argues about the pervasive erosion of moral values across various aspects of Nigerian society, which raises concerns about the decline in ethical standards and its repercussions, showing how Universal Basic Education (UBE) holds a pivotal role in revitalizing values, ideals, and orientations to restore stability. It underlines the interconnectedness of education and morality, emphasizing that the two are inseparable components of human development. National Policy on Education and its emphasis on character building, ethical values, and societal responsibilities were examined, while the role of family, religion, and social media in shaping moral perspectives were also discussed. Furthermore, the paper probes into the adverse effects of moral degeneration on learning outcomes at the basic education level, and posits that moral regeneration and reorientation should be integrated into the curriculum to facilitate a holistic approach to character development. There is also the need for active involvement of stakeholders such as government, religious leaders, parents, and educators in the integration of moral education across subjects. The paper underscores the importance of moral education as a tool to counter corruption and promote positive societal change. The paper concludes by stressing the urgency of prioritizing moral regeneration and reorientation within Nigerian basic education to cultivate a morally conscious and responsible citizenry.
2025-06-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 http://ijotre.oauife.edu.ng/index.php/ijotre/article/view/156THE USE OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS IN THE TEACHING OF PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF BIOLOGY CURRICULUM IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN OSUN STATE, NIGERIA 2025-06-26T11:18:31+00:00Akeem Adedeji ADETUNJIaadetunji@oauife.edu.ngSunday Damilola OWOYOMIijotre@oauife.edu.ngJames IRINOYE irinoyejames@gmail.com
The study investigated the availability, provision and usage of instructional materials in the teaching of the practical aspects of the biology curriculum for senior secondary schools in Osun State, Nigeria. Among other, it was recommended that parents and guardians should endeavour not to predispose children with hearing impairment to situations that can lead to adverse childhood experiences which can later affect them as adults, parents and guardians should recognize the importance of developing qffectionate and altruistic relationships which children with hearing impairment can learn from and imbibe in fi,ture when choosing a marriage partner and building quality relationships, and students with hearing impairment should be exposed to pre-marital counselling in order to learn that they are not a product of the trauma they went through while growing up and should not allow such to affect their partner selection and quality relationship.
2025-06-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 http://ijotre.oauife.edu.ng/index.php/ijotre/article/view/164ENHANCING PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICES IN OSUN STATE: ADDRESSING CHALLENGES AND IMPLEMENTING EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES 2025-06-26T13:03:25+00:00Akibu Asimi ALARAPEijotre@oauife.edu.ng
In Nigeria, public libraries are designed to satisfy the demands of the populace for free information by offering resources and services. This paper focuses on the public library services in Osun State in the face of best practices in a bid to identify the challenges and propose effective strategies. These services include those related to education, information awareness, children's libraries, and other services. However, a number of issues were found to be hindering public libraries in Nigeria's efforts to offer patrons effective services, including insufficient funding, unfavorable service and employment conditions for staff, inadequate JCT infrastructure, and limited JCT skills. The suggested solutions to address the aforementioned difficulties are to encourage non-governmental organizations to provide help to Nigerian public libraries; the staff conditions of service should be upwardly reviewed in terms of salaries, allowances, employment processes, retirement, and others to motivate the staff and also make public library jobs more attractive. Strategies to fortify the public library for effective and efficient mandate delivery were also spelled out in this paper.
2025-06-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 http://ijotre.oauife.edu.ng/index.php/ijotre/article/view/165PARENTAL STYLES AS DETERMINANT OF AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOURS OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN OSUN STATE, NIGERIA 2025-06-26T13:12:53+00:00Busola Bose OGUNDIYAbusiilola@gmail.com
The study examined the level of aggressive behaviour among adolescents in Secondary Schools in Osun State.
